Nepal is a serene country, with a breath taking mountainous backdrop dominating the skyline. It boasts of 8 of the world’s 10 highest peaks including the famed Mt. Everest. 1. Kathmandu Valley:
The largest valley in the country holds three major cities and a plethora of tourist attractions to visit. It is a world renowned region, containing seven of UNESCO World Heritage Sites within it.

Pasupathinath Temple
Also called as the Lord Shiva Temple, the Pasupathinath temple located along the banks of the river Baghmati, is a popular religious destination for Shaivites. The two tiered golden roof and doors made of pure silver are its main attractions.

Bouddhanath Stupa
The unofficial Centre of Buddhism in Nepal. It is an ancient tower (Stupa) and is one of the highest in the world.

Swayambhunath
Built two millennia ago, Swayambhunath is also referred to as the ‘Monkey temple’ as it has a large number of residing monkeys. It comprises a Buddhist stupa on a hilltop, from where the panoramic view of the valley is worth the visit.

Kirtipur
It is a small town fortress, with a rich warrior history and culture. The residents are skilled builders and weavers.

2. Daman
Around 80 kilometers from Kathmandu, Daman is 2100 meters above sea and is a must visit place for its breath taking views of Himalayan ranges such as the Everest, Annapurna, Dorie Lakpa, Lang tang and Ganesh himal.

3. Pokhara
– All Annapurna Treks begin from this lakeside town as access to the mountains from this beautiful town is easy.

4. Lumbini

– Goddess Kalika temple and a heritage site, the Royal palace called Gorkha Durbar are must see places here.
– Also has a modern park to visit.
– Mt. Manasalu and Mt. Ganesh trekkers start from this point.

– The visa policy of Nepal is quite liberal and tourist friendly. Tourists of almost all countries in the world are allowed to obtain visa after arrival in the country.
– Citizens of SAARC countries are issued free visa for a 30 day period.
– For citizens of all other countries, the rates are quite cheap costing 25 dollars for a fortnight stay, 40 for a month and 100 dollars for a 3 month visa.
– Children under 10 years are issued Nepal visa free of cost.
