When it comes to mobile messaging apps, there is always room for digital innovation. U&Me Messenger, a mobile communication app that has realized more than 200,000 app downloads in six months and having a monthly retention rate of about 90%­ is trying to enlarge its user base. Version 1.3.27 of U&Me Messenger adds Offline Messaging, Around Me, Events, People Nearby and many other features. The company said they have plans to aggressively expand its features in the coming updates. And, clearly, it is giving competition to the other famous mobile chat applications.

“Our target is to introduce all the features that are point of interest for users, in our app”, says the company. Earlier, Around Me is a common option to search for friends and nearby places such as movie theatres, ATMs, banks, restaurants and soon. Now, U&Me has introduced ‘People Nearby’ feature which is exclusively designed for finding friends in nearby location. While, Around Me option is wholly dedicated to find the details of the places, malls, restaurants, pharmacies etc., which helps the user to explore the world around­ says the product manager Mr. Dhari Oddati. In addition, U&Me has added 13 new languages including English, Hindi, Français,  Português, Melayu, Italian, Spanish, Japanese,  Simple Chinese, Tradition Chinese,  German, Korean, Russian to expand its global reach.

The new version of U&Me adds a feature ‘Offline Messaging’ and the company is hoping this will give an uplift in the global market. Offline messaging allows the user to send a free SMS to U&Me users who are not available online, using 3g enabled internet connection. Owing to limitations of text messaging, the company is expecting ‘offline messaging’ will give a competitive edge over its competitors.

Other features in Version 1.3.27 of U&Me’s app include new sticker packs, My Wall­ a feature similar to Facebook timeline that allows user to post images/videos/quotes/status messages/stickers/emoticons etc., which will be visible to all or selected group of friends. Events feature is also included in this version of U&Me that helps user to plan their calendar; create events and invite people, as in same way Facebook’s Events work. So, it is evident that U&Me app is targeting to provide all social media features and tools in one application. The U&Me team is positive about the user response to this new update and expecting a major increase in downloads.

Other minor features introduced in the update 1.3.27 of U&Me include an option known as Last Seen that allows users to manage the visibility of their last online information to friends. U&Me also says it has enhanced the function of Walkie­-Talkie feature that helps user to send voice messages instantly. The UI is also improved keeping in mind that it should be more attractive andinteractive to the end user. U&Me is planning to introduce more updates in the coming months with an aim to attract more users and boost its global reach.
